April 3, 2026: A Quiet Week, A Warm Welcome, and Looking Ahead to Ching Ming
A sincere thank you to all the parents who joined us last Friday for the UPTA It was wonderful to share so much about our excellent programs and our planning for the coming school year. Your partnership makes our community strong.
This week has been unusually quiet on campus, as secondary students are away on their annual Week Without Walls (WWW). While we have missed their energy, we know they are building resilience and friendships outdoors.
We look forward to welcoming them back on Friday, eager to hear their stories and celebrate their adventures. Please give your campers a warm welcome when they return and encourage them to share the highlights of their experience with you.
Meanwhile, our primary students and staff continue their learning as usual on campus.
As we look ahead to next week, I wish everyone a wonderful Qing Ming Festival—a time for family, reflection, and remembering those who are important parts of our lives. We look forward to welcoming all students back on campus on Monday, 13 April.
Thank you for your continued trust. Have a wonderful week.

K3’s “Amazing Art Adventure”
Last Thursday, April 2nd, the Admin Hall was filled with joy and creativity as our K3 students took center stage for their delightful “Amazing Art Adventure”! Families and friends spent a wonderful afternoon celebrating the remarkable talents of our youngest learners.

The children impressed everyone with a vibrant program featuring enchanting songs, graceful dances, and expressive poems, all performed with wonderful confidence. Our K3 artists also exhibited their artwork and photographs, which added color to the show. They introduced their pieces in both English and their mother tongue—a beautiful celebration of bilingual learning and cultural pride!

Grade 3 End of Unit Celebration: Sharing the Planet
Our Grade 3 students had their End of Unit Celebration where they demonstrated their knowledge of their “Sharing the Planet” unit of inquiry. The classes were thrilled to welcome parents, Grade 4 students, teachers, and even our UIS Superintendent to support and celebrate our young learners’ achievements.

LEARNING CELEBRATION
Students proudly presented their completed lapbooks, which beautifully captured their learning about Earth’s renewable 和 nonrenewable resources, human impact on our planet, 和 finding balance between meeting our needs and living responsibly for a sustainable future. They also shared what they discovered about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The highlight of our celebration was seeing learning transform into action as students and parents collaborated to create personalized “teaspoons of change” – small but meaningful actions they can implement at home to make a positive difference in our world. It was wonderful to witness how our students’ classroom learning came to life and extended beyond school walls into their homes and families, perfectly embodying our commitment to nurturing globally-minded citizens who are ready to take responsibility for our shared planet.

Hands-On Personal Inquiry— Our First Lab
As part of their personal inquiry, the students stepped into a real laboratory — and for a little while, they became real scientists. Their guiding question was simple but powerful: “How can we find answers through experiments?” To explore this, we headed to the lab to investigate a few mysteries of the natural world — from the inner workings of plant parts to the explosive science of volcanoes.

The experiments were designed to spark curiosity at every turn:
- Bubbling volcano – They watched as simple ingredients reacted like nature’s own eruption, demonstrating chemical change in action.
- Microscopic views of leaves and petals – Through the lens, familiar plants transformed into intricate, alien landscapes of cells and veins.
- Litmus-paper tests – A dip and a color change revealed the hidden world of acids and bases, right before their eyes.
G3 Experiment

It was more than just a lab session — it was a memorable, tactile introduction to scientific discovery. For many, it was the first time they truly felt what it means to ask a question, test an idea, and watch the answer unfold.

2026 “Frontier” Chinese Conference “Frontier”

On March 28, Utahloy International School Guangzhou hosted the 2026 “Frontier” Chinese Conference under the theme “New Standards, Deeper Depths.” Nearly 300 Chinese language educators from across the Asia-Pacific gathered on our campus for a day of rich exchange. Highlights included thought‑provoking forums and six packed workshops led by experts from Sun Yat‑sen University, Beanstalk Education Group, Chinese International School Hong Kong, International School of Beijing, and Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong. Beyond the lively discussions, spring scenery and warm Lingnan hospitality made the event truly memorable. We look forward to building on this momentum to inspire the future of Chinese language teaching.

Visit from BILIM-INNOVATION
International Social Foundation

On Saturday March 28th we were very pleased to host eight school principals from the BILIM-INNOVATION International Social Foundation, a non-profit educational organization and one of the largest and fastest-growing educational groups in Kazakhstan. As many of their schools are currently exploring a transition from the national curriculum to the IB MYP and IB DP, this visit was to gain valuable insight into practical implementation, school culture, and classroom practices. The principals were also interested in understanding how the IB prepares students for admission to international universities. They chose to visit UISG as we were the first international school in Guangzhou to offer a full International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum education from Early Years to Grade 12, and therefore have the experience and deep understanding of the effective implementation of these programmes.

After an introduction to the school and its history, the principals had a chance to probe in great detail about the challenges and opportunities that arise from running IB programmes at the school. They were then taken on a tour of UISG, and were impressed by our beautiful campus as well as our facilities.
We hope to continue and deepen the connections with the Bilim-Innovation International Social Foundation, and look forward to a potential visit from them again in the future.

G3 Experiment
