2026 “Frontier” Chinese Teaching Conference Concludes with Great Success

In March 2026, the “Frontier” Chinese Teaching Conference, themed “Setting New Benchmarks, Expanding Deeper Horizons,” was held on March 28 at Utahloy International School Guangzhou. Hosted by the school, the event brought together nearly 300 experts, scholars, and Chinese language teachers from across the Asia-Pacific region to explore future directions in Chinese language education.

The conference opened with a warm welcome from Ms. Dorothy Wong, Board Director and Chair of the UEF Board. The main forum and six workshops featured a series of insightful presentations: Professor Wang Weilian from Sun Yat-sen University discussed literature’s unique value as a “meta-naming” force in the age of generative AI, using science fiction writing as a lens. Principal Wu Xinghua from Beanstalk Education Group focused on interdisciplinary learning, demonstrating how AI can bridge the humanities and sciences to cultivate “π-shaped learners.” Mr. Niu Yi and Ms. Dai Cuixuan from Chinese International School Hong Kong shared practices on technology‑enabled assessment in Harkness discussions and inclusive leadership in IB programs, respectively. Ms. Chen Bingmei, also from Chinese International School Hong Kong, used the story Flying Hair to illustrate turning a text into a project‑based cultural exploration. Mr. Zheng Zhi from International School of Beijing advocated for a character‑based approach to teaching Chinese as a second language. Ms. Hei Xiujuan from Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong introduced multimodal texts to make classroom learning more interactive and multidimensional.

All six workshops were packed, and the lively post‑session discussions reflected the depth and impact of the event.

During breaks, attendees took strolls around the campus lake and posed for group photos.

At lunch, the warm atmosphere encouraged continued conversations, with many sharing ideas inspired by the workshops.

We hope this conference will serve as a catalyst for innovation in Chinese language education, helping every learner find their place between the depths of Chinese language and the breadth of the wider world.

三月羊城，木棉擎炬，珠水低吟。2026年3月28日，以“立新标·拓深境”为主题的“前沿”中文教学研讨会在广州誉德莱外籍人员子女学校如期举行。这场由我校主办的教育盛会吸引了来自亚太区中文教育领域的近三百位的专家、学者、教师聚于一堂，共探中文教学的未来新方向。

步入誉德莱校园，一湖春水被风揉皱，绿荫如帷，光影斑驳。会议在誉德莱董事会主席黄崇琼女士温润而恳切的感谢中拉开序幕，随后的主论坛与六场工作坊更是一场高密度的思想共振：中山大学王威廉教授以科幻写作切入，探讨文学在生成智能时代作为“元命名”的独特价值；青苗教育集团吴星华校长聚焦“跨学科学习能力”，展示如何借AI消融文理壁垒，培养“π型成长者”；香港汉基国际学校牛毅老师与戴翠璇主任分别从技术赋能哈克尼斯圆桌讨论的精准评估、以及IB课程中教师包容性领导力的构建分享实践；香港汉基国际学校陈冰梅老师以《飞发》为例，演示如何将文本转化为项目式学习的文化探险；北京顺义国际学校郑直老师主张以“字本位”重塑中文二语教学的认知路径；香港李宝椿联合世界书院黑秀娟老师则引入多模态文本，让课堂从单向传递转向立体共鸣。
