CLASS OF 2030

G8 Community Project
This year, the Class of 2030 proudly presented their Community Project Exhibition — a milestone in a year of meaningful learning, growth, and action.
The Community Project is a cornerstone of the MYP at UISG: a year‑long journey in which students choose a community they care about and design creative, practical ways to make a positive impact. Working through the project cycle — Investigation, Planning, Action, and Reflection — our Grade 8 students strengthened empathy, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

From the first brainstorming sessions in September, students identified communities and personal interests, then set ambitious goals. Topics this year were wide‑ranging: body image and mental health, environmental sustainability, the arts, music, sports, war trauma, and more. From October to early December, students worked in pairs, groups of three, or independently, conducting research through interviews, surveys, observations, and media review. They refined proposals, and submitted detailed plans to supervisors for feedback. They moved into the Action phase in January and February, delivering service or working on their products inside and beyond our school.
Highlights of the projects this year include:

On Thursday, March 26, Grade 8 shared their work with peers, teachers, and parents in the ULC. The exhibition showcased their passion, perseverance, and commitment to being caring global citizens — a true celebration of service, creativity, and community spirit.

The learning continues: students are now entering Reflection phase, using feedback from community members, peers, teachers, and parents to evaluate both their service and their growth. They’ll finalize their projects and present formally to supervisors at the end of April.

Beyond the direct benefits to the communities they served, the Community Project prepares our students for the Year 10 Personal Project and the rigors of the Diploma Programme — building skills that will serve them for years to come.

CLASS OF 2030

G8 Community Project
