We were so pleased to welcome special guests this week from a renowned Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, who shared exciting, innovative opportunities for our students for life after UISZ. They also shared current info about UIS Alumni that currently attend NTU. That forward-looking energy sets the stage for a dynamic week ahead! Next week, our campus will be buzzing with activity, including the UISZ Boarding Hallow<\/strong>een Event and BBQ on Wednesday, the 22nd.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u6211\u4eec\u975e\u5e38\u9ad8\u5174\u672c\u5468\u8fce\u6765\u4e86\u6765\u81ea\u65b0\u52a0\u5761\u8457\u540d\u5b66\u5e9c\u2014\u2014\u5357\u6d0b\u7406\u5de5\u5927\u5b66\uff08NTU\uff09\u7684\u7279\u522b\u5609\u5bbe\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u4e3a\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u5b66\u751f\u5206\u4eab\u4e86UISZ\u6bd5\u4e1a\u540e\u7684\u7cbe\u5f69\u521b\u65b0\u673a\u9047\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\u4e5f\u4ecb\u7ecd\u4e86\u76ee\u524d\u6b63\u5728\u5357\u6d0b\u7406\u5de5\u5927\u5b66\u5c31\u8bfb\u7684UIS\u6821\u53cb\u7684\u8fd1\u51b5\u3002\u8fd9\u79cd\u7740\u773c\u4e8e\u672a\u6765\u7684\u6d3b\u529b\uff0c\u4e3a\u6211\u4eec\u63a5\u4e0b\u6765\u5145\u6ee1\u6d3b\u529b\u7684\u4e00\u5468\u62c9\u5f00\u4e86\u5e8f\u5e55\uff01\u4e0b\u5468\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u6821\u56ed\u5c06\u56e0\u4e30\u5bcc\u7684\u6d3b\u52a8\u800c\u70ed\u95f9\u975e\u51e1\uff0c\u5176\u4e2d\u5305\u62ec10\u670822\u65e5\uff08\u5468\u4e09\uff09<\/strong>\u4e3e\u884c\u7684UISZ\u5bbf\u820d\u4e07\u5723\u8282\u6d3b\u52a8\u4e0e\u70e7\u70e4\u6d3b\u52a8\u3002 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The week culminates in a major highlight: our annual UIS Uni Fair next Friday, the 24th,<\/strong> where we are proud to host nearly 100 universities from over 15 countries around the world. Last year it was hosted here at UISZ, and this year it will be at UISG.  It is a week that perfectly captures our community’s spirit, from foundational learning to future planning. We look forward to sharing it with you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enhanced Support Through Our EAL Program <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our recent Coffee Morning, we shared insights into our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program, which is now guided by the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), this is a holistic, proactive, and data-driven framework designed to meet the academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of all students. Given our school\u2019s unique profile, the MTSS model allows us to: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launch of the Korean Mother Tongue Program <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our PYP Korean Mother Tongue Program this week! This program celebrates and nurtures students\u2019 home language and cultural identity while supporting cognitive and academic development. Importantly, it is designed as a continuous pathway from Primary through Secondary School, ensuring long-term linguistic and cultural continuity for our Korean-speaking learners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As I\u2019ve mentioned before, this year we are placing special emphasis on familiarizing all families with our Parent\/Student Handbook, particularly our communication protocols. Clear, consistent channels help us build strong partnerships, ensure student safety, and respect everyone\u2019s time and roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This policy is essential for student safety, and accurate medical record-keeping; it ensures our nurses can act knowledgeably and responsibly in your child\u2019s best interest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This week, we organized a series of one-to-one parent-teacher meetings for DSE D12 students who have just completed their first mock examinations. The meetings provided an in-depth analysis of each student\u2019s current academic performance, integrating mock exam results with daily performance to develop personalized improvement plans and university admission guidance for the examination preparation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We were truly honored to welcome Mr. Alan Phua, Head of Admissions, and Ms. Ong Hue Sin, Senior Assistant Director of Admissions from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU). They conducted dedicated admission seminars at both our Zengcheng and Guangzhou campuses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To further cultivate a proactive and positive learning environment, D11 recently held a thematic class meeting. The session was thoughtfully structured and engaging: It began with a National Day holiday sharing segment, where students actively used English to narrate their holiday experiences and reflections, effectively enhancing their language expression skills. This was followed by a recognition ceremony honoring students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and achievement in both academic and extracurricular activities since the start of the semester, aiming to set examples and inspire all students to make continuous progress. Finally, the meeting looked ahead, guiding students to discuss strategies for adjusting their learning mindset and developing concrete academic plans for the upcoming stage, thereby equipping them thoroughly for new learning challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amidst both lively competitions and friendly interactions, participants not only enhanced their physical fitness and sports skills but also significantly strengthened friendships and a spirit of teamwork among classmates. The event embodied and promoted the sportsmanship ethos of “Friendship first, competition second.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The traditional “Trick-or-Treat” activity will be held as the main event, with the designated area specially decorated to enhance the festive atmosphere. Students are encouraged to dress up in costumes and join in the authentic Halloween fun. Additionally, a variety of Halloween-themed games and hands-on craft stations will be set up in the Secondary Building, offering diverse ways for students with different interests to participate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    IB Secondary staff spent time last Thursday and Friday taking part in Professional Development Days. The PD included our staff collaborating with UISG Secondary staff on Thursday. Separate from this, some of our DP teachers were able to attend an IB-run Extended Essay workshop over those 2 days. No matter which workshops we attended, the learning and meaningful conversations that occurred over these two days were enriching and for the benefit of our learners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On Tuesday, Year 10-12 students attended a presentation from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. It was a great chance to hear about what NTU offers, insights into the application process, and information about student life. Thank you to the Director of College Counselling, Ms Yein, for organising this for us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On Thursday, our players participated in the ACAMIS Yellow Division HS Volleyball tournament. It was great to see so many students involved. The boys’ team won their game 2:1, which was a great result. The girls\u2019 team played a good game throughout although they ultimately lost 2:0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Next Friday, we have a trip to UISG for Years 9-12 to take advantage of early access to the UIS University Fair. Organised by Ms Yein, there will be over 90 universities attending and it is therefore a great opportunity for our students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
