The number of students varies in each class. The maximum is 12 in K, 16 in K1, 20 in K2, 22 in K3 to Year 5, and 24 in secondary.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

UISZ offers\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>IB curriculum<\/span>\u00a0framework<\/span> for our students: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP),<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and HKDSE.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We have around 26 foreign teachers and 14 Chinese teachers. They come from all over the world: the US, Belgium, Colombia, France, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, New Zealand, Philippines, Romania, and South <\/span>Africa.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

What is the quality of teaching at UISZ?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

We attend the top job fairs worldwide <\/span><\/span><\/span>and recruit through international teaching agencies <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>to get the best teachers and\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>maintain<\/span><\/span><\/span> a high teaching quality for our students.\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>We hire highly <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>qualified and trained IB teachers.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have boarding facilities?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

Yes, UISZ is not only an international school but also a boarding school. The boarding house (Dragon House) offers 7-day boarding, 5-day boarding and flexi-boarding. Students in Y1 (7 years old) and above can stay in the boarding house. Y1 can stay in <\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>boarding house after an interview with the Head of Boarding.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Do students need to wear school uniforms?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

Yes, students from K to Y10 should wear school uniforms every school day. Students in years<\/span>\u00a011 and 12 must abide by a dress code.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Do you provide school buses for students?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

Yes. We provide school buses for day and boarding students<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Does my child need to bring his\/her device to school? If so, how do you manage it?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

In UISZ, students in grades 3 and above should bring their own devices to school (BYOD). Parents and students must sign the ICT User Agreement <\/span>to<\/span> guide students in using<\/span>\u00a0their devices<\/span>\u00a0properly.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have Scholarship Testing?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

Do you have an EAL (English as an Additional Language) programme?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\n

Yes, we do have the EAL programme. After <\/span><\/span>taking <\/span><\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span> WIDA Assessment<\/span><\/span><\/span>, students will be placed into one of three language acquisition categories\u202fto<\/span><\/span> determine<\/span><\/span><\/span> EAL support<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>This<\/span><\/span><\/span> enables students to integrate into the full mainstream programme from the very beginning<\/span><\/span> and guides the support they receive through push-in and pull-out support.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

What kind of language programme do you have?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\n

We\u00a0recognise\u00a0the importance of students being fluent in their\u00a0mother tongue and multilingual. Our Language Programme\u00a0recognises\u00a0the importance of developing\u00a0students\u2019\u00a0first language while improving their language skills\u00a0by studying\u00a0additional languages. Students enrolled in MYP English Literature and Language Acquisition (Phase\u00a04 and above) can access a third language course.\u00a0Primary students attend Chinese A or B \u00a0language classes and are exposed to additional French and Korean classes.<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have ECA’s (Extra-Curricular Activities)?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\n

Students may sign up for<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> ECAs <\/span><\/span><\/span>Monday <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>through<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> Thursday afternoons<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0Primary and Secondary ECAs are <\/span><\/span><\/span>operated<\/span><\/span><\/span> separately. Students can choose extracurricular activities during each ECA rotation, including Lego Design, Music, athletics, cycling, coding, caligraphy, Forest School, Skateboarding, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span> ECA offerings change regularly, and with each new rotation, students can engage in different types of extracurricular activities.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> Sports in the secondary are offered simultaneously as the primary ECA offerings<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>. ECA<\/span><\/span><\/span> schedules <\/span><\/span><\/span>are <\/span><\/span><\/span>aligned<\/span><\/span><\/span> with the sports seasons.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Do you provide SEN (Special Educational Needs) for students?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\n

We are an inclusive school that recognizes people are unique and that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates. The school does not have the resources to administer a programme for children with severe learning disabilities (e.g. severe speech disability, severe autism, severe physical disability, etc.) Therefore, parents\/guardians of children admitted to UISZ with special needs must present a recent psycho-educational assessment that a licensed school psychologist has conducted within the last two years. These results will determine the appropriateness of the child\u2019s enrolment in the school.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Does school help students to apply for a Student Visa?<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
