On Thursday, November 7th, K3 and Y1 parents gathered at the cozy Cobra Caf\u00e9 for a delightful Coffee Morning, not just as part of our vibrant international school community, but as eager explorers of an exciting new educational venture. They met with Tara O\u2019Brien and Vitna Bailey, who warmly welcomed everyone and introduced them to the UISZ Forest School\u2014a program that transcends the boundaries of traditional schooling. Tara and Vitna elaborated on the K3\/Y1 UISZ Forest School pilot program, which is set to commence on November 18th, immersing our young learners in the wonders of our beautiful forest setting. More than an International School, UISZ is pioneering innovative educational approaches that foster connection to nature and holistic development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

11\u67087\u65e5\uff0cK3\u548cY1\u7684\u5bb6\u957f\u4eec\u5728\u8a89\u5fb7\u83b1\u589e\u57ce\u6821\u533a\u773c\u955c\u86c7\u5496\u5561\u5385\u5171\u5ea6\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u5145\u6ee1\u671f\u5f85\u7684\u5496\u5561\u6668\u4f1a\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u4e0e\u6211\u6821\u6821\u957fTara O’Brien\u548cVitna Bailey\u6df1\u5165\u4ea4\u6d41\uff0c\u4e00\u8d77\u63ed\u5f00UISZ\u68ee\u6797\u5b66\u6821\u7684\u795e\u79d8\u9762\u7eb1\u2014\u2014\u4e00\u4e2a\u6253\u7834\u4f20\u7edf\u6559\u80b2\u754c\u9650\u7684\u9879\u76ee\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Forest School?<\/strong>
\u4ec0\u4e48\u662f\u8a89\u5fb7\u83b1\u7684\u68ee\u6797\u5b66\u6821\u9879\u76ee\uff1f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Forest school embraces philosophies of child-centered and inquiry-based learning.
\u68ee\u6797\u5b66\u6821\u5b9e\u884c\u4ee5\u513f\u7ae5\u4e3a\u4e2d\u5fc3\u548c\u63a2\u7a76\u5f0f\u5b66\u4e60\u7684\u7406\u5ff5\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2<\/strong>. Children attend forest school over a period of time: often weekly for at least a half term.
\u513f\u7ae5\u5728\u4e00\u6bb5\u65f6\u95f4\u5185\u53c2\u52a0\u68ee\u6797\u5b66\u6821\u7684\u5b66\u4e60\uff1a\u901a\u5e38\u6bcf\u5468\u4e00\u6b21\uff0c\u81f3\u5c11\u6301\u7eed\u534a\u4e2a\u5b66\u671f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sessions are led by a qualified forest school practitioner, trained in aspects of child development and safety.  Practitioners are also trained in the ethos of forest school, which focuses on raising confidence and self-esteem of children through small, repeatable tasks and nurturing their personal, social and emotional development through development of social and team-working skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our curriculum is designed to extend learning beyond the classroom in disciplines such as UOI (Unit of Inquiry)<\/strong>, math, language, science, and social studies. At UISZ, learning is a journey that takes place on every corner of campus and in the communities in which we live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
