Weaving Our Dots Together:
Primary Students Build Community\u00a0Through Fiber Art<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creativity and self-expression come alive through the unique marks and textures found in fiber art. This year, our Primary and Early Years students celebrated International Dot Day by connecting their individual marks using the traditional technique of weaving<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this hands-on experience, students not only learned the key skill of weaving but also explored how to apply this technique creatively to express their own ideas. They discovered that just like weaving brings threads together to create something beautiful, their dots symbolize how each person\u2019s contribution strengthens our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students made their mark in both large and small-scale fiber art pieces, thoughtfully designing their dots to celebrate connection and collaboration. These woven dots came together in a vibrant final display, embodying the PYP values of community, creativity, and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration extended beyond art-making with an engaging assembly. Students created large-scale dots filled with their own creative marks, forming a giant human weave that showcased their\u00a0teamwork and collaboration<\/strong>\u00a0skills\u2014key elements of the IB Learner Profile attributes of being communicators, risk-takers, and caring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
